There are 3 production facilities that produce Ram trucks, 1 in Europe and 2 in North America. Some of the popular Ram models include 700, 1200, 1500, Promaster, Dodge Ram and Promaster City.

Ram Car Insurance Impact
Over the years, pickups frequently feature on most stolen vehicle list by Insurance Bureau of Canada. But, Ram trucks and pickups do not feature much on this list and does not have a high-risk for theft. This affects the premiums that are calculated by insurance companies. However, Ram trucks do tend to have higher sticker price and this value causes insurance rates to go up.
On a different perspective, pickups cost less to insure compared to cars. Now, all pickups do not have a lower insurance cost as this could depend on the engine power and size. A higher number of cylinders would mean that the cost of repairs or replacement also goes up. When we compare the insurance rates, the Ram 2500 4WD had a higher insurance tag than Ram 3500 4WD. Both have same V8 engines but the former seems to have a smoother automatic transmission with more parts.
Ram Accident Benefit Performance
As per some studies by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Ram got marginal to good safety ratings in all categories except the safety of driver torso and roof strength. They looked at the model Dodge Ram 1500 for the safety test. Trucks generally get used more roughly for hauling, towing and off-road purposes when compared to family cars. Due to the larger size, Ram trucks involved in a crash can easily crush another smaller car. Higher extent of damage and injuries are evitable if a Ram is part of a collision. It may be a good idea to get Gap insurance if there are plans to lease a new Ram truck as these are high-end powerful trucks and may cost more to replace when totaled.
Ram Collision And Comprehensive Claim Costs
Due to greater damages caused by Ram in an accident, it is often recommended to include comprehensive and collision coverage. An at-fault accident with one of Ram trucks inuring 2 or more would mean losses amounting to millions of dollars. Dodge Ram trucks tend to have lower repair costs in case of a collision. And most of the Ram trucks have lower comprehensive claims costs. Newer Dodge Ram vehicles have more collision rates than older models despite many advanced features.
At the end of the day, the insurance rates also get calculated based on the level of protection for an occupant traveling in one of these trucks during a collision. The Dodge Ram 3500 models of 2011-2012 do have higher than average rates for collision repair costs. However, when we look at the list of most stolen vehicles, Dodge Ram vehicles are not on the list. These trucks also have very good safety features and theft sensors.
